Race Day // April 29, 2023​

Welcome to the Rocky Point Triathlon!  This is a bucket-list event for adventure seekers and triathletes from all over the world!

• PUERTO PEÑASCO is an incredible small town nestled on the shores of the Sea of Cortez and we love hosting you at our triathlon.  Triathlete Magazine named us the Best Triathlon Party in the World and here are some reasons why:

• VENUE: encapsulated within the 5-star Las Palomas Beach & Golf Resort in Puerto Peñasco. Discounted beautiful ocean-view condos have full equipped kitchen and are great to share with friends and family!

 

• RELAXED START TIME: Between 9:00AM and 10:00AM depending on the tide.

• WEATHER: in Mid April, the air and water temperatures are perfect.  The race start is around 75*F and the water temps are about the same!  It can get warm on the run course later in the day but we have a a pool party and a cold beer waiting for you!

• THE EXPERIENCE: we recommend booking your lodging early so you can experience everything Puerto Peñasco and the triathlon have to offer.  Stay on our private resort (with a discount!) the Las Palomas Resort and Golf Club.  As mentioned above, the rooms are incredible and perfect for your family and friends to all stay together.  They have full kitchens, every room has an amazing view, and the event takes place right down on the beach in front of you!

• THE SWIM: takes place in the Sea of Cortez along the shore line.  The Sprint swim is 500 meters and the Olympic swim 1000 m. 

 

• THE BIKE: course is throughout Sandy Beach on mostly closed roads and when it's not completely closed, you get an entire lane to yourself.  The Sprint bike is 9.4 miles and the Olympic is 26 miles long. We are working with the city authorities so that they repair / re-pave some of the road segments. We will keep you informed about the road condition so that you can adapt your ride accordingly. 

 

• THE RUN: course is on our private golf course and finishing on the sandy beach right in front of the resort! 

 

• WHAT ELSE?: there's so much to do before and after your race, so make sure you stay a while! The beautiful fishing town of "Rocky Point" is just up the road from Las Palomas and there are so many great dining spots along the water, make sure you check them all out!

• VOLUNTEERS: one of the best things about our race is the people.  We make donations to the local schools, institutions, and medical staff, and in return we get incredible support along the course and finish line. 

​

• THE GOODS: the Rocky Point Triathlon is known for having one of the best finisher medals EVERY YEAR!  If you like collecting bling, this is your event.  You will also get a great event shirt.  But the best part is our post race party!  The Las Palomas Resort hosts everyone right at the finish line with a free beer and incredible post race food for athletes, all while swimming / pool partying in their negative edge pool over looking the ocean and finish line! Concert-quality life music well into the night.

• LODGING: your best bet is staying at Las Palomas Resort.
